I told my doc about my neck pain and that, and she said it sounded like craniocervical instability. I said ‘So, I’m basically a bobble head?’ Lol I’m hypermobile. I believe I have hEDS.

when i started doing neck rolls every day for my neck pain per my chiropractor, i told them that when i tilt my head forward and move side to side i feel a popping. they said it was nothing and that sometimes it just does that. i asked them if it happens to them and they said no. can we please normalize saying "I'm not sure, let's look it up together"??

Every single day. But there’s “nothing they can do” and “it’s too hard to diagnose” and “there’s nothing that can be done”

For those with hypermobile necks or the instability, what do you do for sleep? It's so hard to find a way to stabilize my neck in a neutral pose *and* relax those muscles for the night

Yep. Instability from C1 misalignment. Caused by whiplash, bad posture, stress etc. Creates everything you mentioned and more,,,nerve and artery compression, brain stem inflammation, nervous system disregularion, MCAS etc etc. Upper cervical Chiro treatment with Blair method is helping me.

can you have high pressure when you get an LP with this? I was diagnosed with IIH...but I had a shunt placed, lost 60 lbs, and the pain and confusion is still debilitating.

I have these symptoms. Doctors diagnosed me with fibromyalgia, but I don’t believe that’s my diagnosis. It’s so exhausting to go to all these doctors only for them to say nothing is wrong. This pain is debilitating, and most days I don’t want to move. But if I don’t move, the pain gets worse. I constantly have to make sure I move just enough but not too much so the pain doesn’t get worse. Doctors keep sending me to psychologists and physical therapy rather than listening to me. I gave up on doctoring, but I don’t want to live in this pain for the rest of my life.

Can this cause Chiari Malformation? I have the symptoms you mentioned. My neck is always sore. I feel a lot of pressure and dizziness. My MRI said 7mm Chiari Malformation.

How do I get my doctors to take this seriously? I have EDS and POTS and have all the symptoms you mentioned aside from blackouts and more. I’ve had the right scans and my neck looks off but to them they say is normal… I know it’s not normal to have to hold your head up constantly

How is it diagnosed/ how is it treated? I am thinking a standing MRI because when I lay down my neck is way more stable / normal than when I am upright, if that makes sense? 🥰 - But then how is it treated? 🥰

This sounds like me, I’m hyper mobile, and had a spinal fusion I probably shouldn’t have had . I didn’t know I was hyper mobile at the time. . I’m getting a CT scan to see if it failed, causing pseudo arthritis . I have genetics testing for CMT. Suspect AS, POTS, PsA, . There are so many days the pain is so bad, and rest doesn’t help. It gets worse the cracking, the tightness, occipital neuralgia w/ unbearable migraines.
