I also believe that if you are a perfectionist, you see your family as an extension of yourself, so you hold them to the same impossible standards you hold yourself to.

That’s emotional and verbal abuse. If done regularly, you might have narcissistic features, especially if there is a mask involved. Get checked and keep yourself in check. Evolve! Your children and your spouse are not your punching bag.

THIS. This is SO often the case when it comes to strained relationships between parents and adult children! Even if there was no outright "abuse," NOBODY outside the home saw the same version of that parent. The kids were their regulation outlet after a long day at work.

A lady I was seeing was doing this. I left her so fast. I’m sorry I’m not dealing with this. Treating your boss better than you treat me. Say no to being an emotional dumping ground

on the surface this sounds like it makes sense however never healthy. there are so many variations from subtle to abusive, either way it erodes a relationship unless there is a healthier way to vent. oh idk like communication and emotional maturity?? that onky comes by taking personal responsibility in all relationships.

# 3 This is no great insight. This is the age-old “taking your frustrations out on them.” And no, I don’t feel closer after.
