we are blessed to live in a low cost of living state. Between my wife and I, we make low $200k range a year. No Kids, consumer debt free, maxing out all our roth retirement accounts, paying off our 15 yr mortgage 8 years early. 10 month emergency fund in high yield savings. we live way below our means not trying to keep up with the Jones's. I drive a 99 buick park avenue I paid 3300 cash for and put over 500 miles a week on my commute.

That won’t even pay my mortgage. I’m so blessed to have a career that lets me live like a celebrity. Mini Mansion, international trips, activities, college tuition paid for my daughter to be a lawyer and a little put up. $50k wouldn’t go far with me.

I’m blessed to be able to have the opportunity to work 2 jobs and make well over 100k.. I was able to buy a low cost 225k home in 2020 and paid it off in June. Now I can actually save a decent amount of money. My son is in his second year of college and is working so I don’t have to do a lot for him. God is good.. sometimes life is uncomfortable but God will make it all work out

In a high cost of living area like where I am 100k is the minimum you can even work for to get by. Just My property tax is $1,200 per month. The wife and I make 300k per year before taxes . no we are not close to rich but we aren’t struggling

We tend to talk about Gross salary when we discuss income. We should be talking more about Net pay. This gives folks a better idea of how much you actually have to spend. People look at your gross and think you have more money than you actually do.
