My guess is theyre big on the bootleg market. In countries that dont get these big blockbusters at the same time as the US or people cant afford to go to a movie theater these knockoffs prolly do pretty well. Not super well but just well enough to be profitable since i imagine all these movies are made pretty cheap

I'm dating myself here, but I used to run a video rental chain and these movies were supremely popular. There is a massive love for the really bad...so bad...they might be good (or at least enjoyable) movies. Perfect example is Sharknado.

they right, they never lose money on these movies. don't get fooled by thr DVD covers, the movies are just actors walkiing around in abandoned warehouses or in forests for 90 minutes, places they can film without paying filming location fees, and just 3 minutes of CGI cut & spread out into 90 minutes
