![Well, it’s not that easy… Elly Schlein, leader of the Italian Democratic Party (PD) and opposition leader to Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, told in a recent interview that “according to the polls, Italians don’t like Trump.” According to a June poll by the Pew Research center, only 32% of people in Italy have confidence in US President Trump as a world leader — while 68% don’t have confidence in him. However, the relationship between Trump and Meloni has been exceptional with Meloni becoming a leader that Trump has trusted and listened to. Schlein argues that, while Giorgia Meloni is still strong in the polls, there are many vulnerabilities, including her friendship with and closeness to Trump. She said: “The situation of the Italians today after three years of her [Meloni’s] government, is it better or is it worse? And the answer would be, definitely worse.” Schlein, who’s both an Italian and US citizen and has worked for the Obama campaign in the past, continued: “So how, why is she [Meloni] so strong?
