People really out here acting like lidar is some kind of weapon. It’s literally just invisible light—infrared. You can’t see it, you can’t feel it, and it’s regulated to be eye-safe. It’s not cooking your brain, it’s not frying your skin, and it’s definitely not ‘military tech being used on civilians.’ The only reason it messes with some cameras is because they’re cheap or not built to handle infrared properly. That’s not a health hazard, that’s a budget issue.Meanwhile, lidar is the reason your car can detect a kid crossing the street in pitch black. It helps with emergency braking, lane detection, and avoiding collisions. It works in fog, rain, and glare cameras only work in perfect conditions

The LiDAR operate in infrared spectrum. The surveillance cameras don’t have IR filter to see better at night. So yes. it laser can destroy cameras.
