RECIPE; THE CORNISH NASTY PLEASE READ BELOW ⬇️ That last video caused a bit of a stir didn’t it? Lots of unhappy English people in the comments. I just wanted to address some of the issues that were raised. First of all it wasn’t a protest against tourism. Most Cornish people understand that tourism is a really good thing. Yes we find you annoying a lot of time but it’s more a little brother kind of annoying. If you treat the locals and your surroundings with respect, and learn how to reverse on back roads, we are more than happy for you to be here. This, in my interpretation, is about 2 things. 1. People from outside of Cornwall buying a second home that they leave empty except for when they holiday down here for 2 weeks of the year (these are the type of tourist I am against) 2. Greedy landlords (this is especially includes local people) evicting tenants and instead turning their property into a holiday let. Both of these things kills communities. It affects the housing market with fewer properties available therefore pushing the prices up and pricing out a lot of people. Lots of people in the comments pointed out that it is local people who are selling the properties for more money and while that is true, it is difficult to blame someone for accepting £20,000 over the asking price. Putting the onus on the seller rather than the buyer takes the blame away from someone who is doing something morally wrong. It also leaves a lot of local families desperate as there is an extreme lack of reasonably priced rental properties. As there is also a severe lack of council/social housing, many families end up in emergency accommodation such as travelodges and static caravans. If you visit Cornwall try not to encourage this industry. There are plenty of lovely hotels and campsites. If you want your own space there are so many dedicated holiday cottage villages you can stay at as well as lovely hotels and campsites. 🟰🟰 skirt steak 🟰🟰 turnip and potato hash 🟰🟰 caramelised onions 🟰🟰 Gran’s green bean chutney 🟰🟰 black & white pepper mayo 🟰🟰 curled spring onion 🟰🟰 pickled red onion You can spot a pasty made on the internet by an English person (cc @thomasstraker) because they will dice their potato and turnip (swede is known as turnip in Cornwall). The proper way to prep your veg is to ‘chip’ them, holding it in one hand and using a small knife in the other, pulling towards you cutting little ‘chips’ off as you go. #cornishpasty #sandwich #cornwall #food #sandwich #Recipe #tourism #fyp
