Personally, as someone who’s lived in the actual Atlanta city limits as well as metro/greater Atlanta area, I’ve always considered anyone who lived in AND around the city to be from Atlanta. Not because of location but because of the experience of us all growing up here. Like despite being in different counties n shi like that, we all grew up having experienced the same places, landmarks, skating rinks, restaurants, culture, etc. due to the redistricting that happens here.

It should be understood that Fulton, Gwinnett, Dekalb, Cobb, and Clayco is basically atlanta. that is where most of the metro atlanta population resides.

Man look when I came up Atlanta and Metro Atlanta was the same thing. We never had an issue like that. East side folks called Atlanta the West side and Atlanta folks called us the East side. We knew the different between Zone 6 East Atlanta and the East Side of Atlanta. The old conversation is for new Atlanta because old Atlanta already know the business.

JID be claiming East Atlanta. Idk why? He and his family are from DeKalb County 😂. So many DeKalb folks claim Zone 6 and I don't know why.

I think its because the new folks and how the city has expanded beyond 285 now. Folks comfortably making 1+ hour commutes and still claiming Atlanta wasnt as much of a thing 20 years ago. If you’re inside/around 285 or a marta bus rolls through near you, you’re atlanta to me
