I have a VW atlas cross sport. They disabled my remote start that is built into my car after a trail period. If i dont pay a monthly fee its just never going to work again. Which sucks but I refuse to engage in their greedy BS. 🙄

I own a VW ID3 pro S. I think you misunderstood what is happening. First of all this is applicable only to UK. Second, you buy your car with a given known horse power, example 204 hp. Nobody can limit or take that away. What VW is offering is an upgrade, that if you want, you can have. What VW is doing with subscriptions is selling locked higher trims digitally. So instead of offering multiple versions (like 204 hp vs 228 hp) at the dealership, they ship one hardware and let you pay later to unlock the stronger version, if you want.
