In defense of Jor-El, when observing Earth from light years away, he probably saw a primitive culture from thousands of years ago and not the late 20th century. He thought he was sending his son, along with advance technology, to a world that probably just invented the wheel.

David Corenswet father died before seeing his son pay this role ..no doubt he was thinking of his own father when this scene came up and how emotional it was for him

I dragged my dad to the theatre to see it (my 2nd time, his first). He held my hand throughout the scene, and squeezed it tight when Pa Kent said “Your choices, your actions; that’s what makes you who you are”. He’s my Pa Kent, and I’m his Super(wo)man. I’m so grateful for this scene.

He was sent to be a ruler, but through the love of his parents (not adopted just his parents) he became a helper. I cry when I think of this movie.

This iteration of Pa Kent reminds me so much of my own father. The man is rarely outwardly affectionate but before I leave him, he never fails to tell me how proud of me he is, especially when I rarely feel as though I deserve his pride or praise. It just reaffirms that this is the type of father I want to be.

Arguably one of the single best performances of Pa Kent in any Superman adaptation. The moment he started choking up to say how proud he was, I thought of my own father and started crying even as I was smiling.

Watching this as a Dad, I can feel Pa's pain that his son didn't know that he was a good person.

This scene was fantastic. Truly embraced the idea that we, as flawed as we are, are capable of greatness. And that no matter where you come from, it doesn't define you unless you let it.
