My husband is so consumed with how I might make him look, he can’t separate me from his own identity & has on many occasion scolded me for something completely benign just cuz I’m not my own person, just an extension of his persona

Correct. If you control someone, you can’t love them. Those things do not go together.

After a failure to intervene by both his loved ones and the legal system, I once had to gentle parent an obsessive ex (from a high-control religious background, obviously) into the realization that he didn't even like me as a person. I was all "quit stalking me" and he was all "but we belong together" until I was like "oh, in that case, let's be friends for about a year and see what happens" and then he was like "but I would never choose you for a friend" and only then I could finally go "NO KIDDING, it turns out that feeling is the one that's been mutual all along." The lack of self-awareness was exhausting 🙄🙄🙄

You are correct. They also clearly don’t live Jesus because if they did, they would have a basin and a towel to wash feet. They would serve their wives. Both parties must practice mutuality. There’s room for only one King- Jesus.

If they claim to be religious men, and this is the way they are treating their wives then they need to go back to the Bible because the Bible says man. Also submit to your wives. Love your wife as Christ love the church a religious man this is a mantrying to make the world believe he is holy.

I'm working so hard to make sure my boys don't grow up with this mindset. My extended family believes it very firmly and they keep saying they want to have an influence on my kids. No thank you.

but why do we blame women (the mother) for men's entitlement and mistreatment. trauma can cause a lot of things, but it does not cause entitlement.

From the outside, my relationship looks like complimentarinism, but there is not a single decision that needs to be made jointly that I don't have full input and consideration when we make it.

the other kind of misogynist, I personally believe, is the Madonna-Whore Misogynist. I'm no pschyologist, but I'd love someone to research this! It's less about the Freudian complex and more of an elevation of select few woman or women they feel can do no wrong while despising the rest. Their Madonna is on a pedestal holding a righteousness so they don't have to. Her valor is untouchable. The whores hold all their sexual hatred and need policed purity codes. These are just my own observations of some men I know. Jordan Peterson gives me this impression though

Stephanie... where are they? Never have been attracted to them before. But someday I believe I will be ready to open my heart again. For now I'm in such a growth spurt, and afraid another might slow me down. Thanks for everything you share. These are my favorite posts.

When I was a kid, my parents did most of the things for me. now, as an adult, if I could just say i'm living my godly duty and have my partner, take everything over that my parents used to do for me, that would make life so much easier. They live on easy mode

They hate women. Their contempt for women is frightening. That’s why the abuse in every form you can imagine and some you’ve never thought of—Spiritual abuse is a whole different beast! They don’t want sex to be pleasant for women. In fact they weaponize it to hurt her! It’s marital 🍇 over and over again. Their Roman Empire.

I don't ever want to be with another man ever again if I get out of this marriage. I'm struggling right now, I made a covenant with God and I just don't want to break that 😭😭😭 I think maybe this is my suffering, right? we all have suffering, trials, and tribulations, right? 😭 I can't even think straight right now 😩
