I try and rest my paddocks. I also don’t even buy cattle. Never have. The cattle I have were always a closed herd since the 60’s. I grow my herd from within. I keep my heifers, at least the ones worth keeping. I sell the bulls & steers except the ones we keep for meat. We do have to purchase new bulls periodically as to not inbreed. I find it funny now that the government wants to pay us to keep our heifers. I have been doing it for 15 years as have many farmers I know!! That is why they laugh at this NEW Government plan.
