17 cents in 1938 is equivalent to $3.89 today. You simply can’t compare unless you do the comparison in today’s dollars.

When I was 17 or so I worked in a tiny town in billings Oklahoma and a lady lived in the home that was 100 years old or so. And she told me about Oklahoma before it was even a state. She had artwork her kids made her from 1940s on her wall. She was very deaf so ppl treated her like she was incompetent. It was 4th of July and I said hey Edna do you want to go watch the fireworks with me. She did. I’ll never forget watching the fireworks with her. 💕💕 Sweet angel. Rest in peace

I love hearing the story of their lives. It’s really interesting. No one takes the time to listen to their stories these days. It’s sad because we have so much to learn from them.

Compared to today’s purchasing power, that’s roughly an income of $250 per month and buying a car that costs $2,600
