It’s not everyone that was born half of was dead by 30 or 35. But back then lots of children were dying due to diseases. Actually kids were making 99% of all deaths. But if you managed to live until 18 you often lived to pass the age of 60 and 70.

Those numbers are misleading. Many children died before 5 of infections and many women died in childbirth.

Disease prevention due to advancements in hygiene played a bigger role than advancements in medical science.

that includes baby deaths, mums dying through child birth, childhood diseases etc. if you survived through all of that then im sure you still had people living into their 60 and 70s even maybe. but the reality was that lots of people werent just dying before 30 they were dying well before that as well.

Neil getting a little too excited about science here. The reason why so many died, so young, was usually due to minor and common bacterial infections....
penicillin and antibiotics changed everything. people started living until 50s and 60s.....then surgery changed everything again. Iodine and the ability to keep the surgical field sterile now meant we could treat some cancers, or replace organs, or remove bad ones.
