it’s a standardized json protocol. instead of “telling” an LLM what EACH endpoint of EACH API are available, what they mean, and how to invoke them, you can “tell” an LLM what MCPs are available, and how to “explore the endpoints”/invoke an MCP generally, without having to design that instruction for every APIs specific protocol.
