@feedingjackie: Matsukiyo is one of Japan’s most popular drugstore chains, but did you know some locations also sell food? Come with me as we check one out. Today, I picked up three things: a sugar-free ice bar, a bottle of Aquarius, and a Yakult that says 1/2 on it — which I’m hoping means half sugar. It was about $5 for a pack of ten, so I had to try it either way. Starting with the Aquarius, I have to say I prefer Pocari Sweat. Just a personal preference, but I find Pocari a bit sweeter and more enjoyable. Next, the sugar-free ice bar. This was sweeter than I expected, with a really satisfying crunch from the chocolate and nuts. The vanilla ice cream inside was smooth and tasty — I’d give this a 4/5 and recommend. And lastly, the Yakult. If 1/2 really does mean half sugar, you’d never know — it tasted exactly like the Yakult I’m used to and love. My husband swears Yakult tastes like sour milk (anyone else agree, or is he crazy?), but for me, this was a win.
