Yo, when we lost our house in Sandy in New Jersey, FEMA legitimately told my bio dad that he had to pay for all of the stuff himself to get it fixed then they would reimburse him or help him. So at the end of the day we lost our house and he had to had to file bankruptcy. It was insane. FEMA is damn joke

I had a best friend (found thru AIM) that was there at the time. We spent hours on the house (landline, not cell) phone talking and I think about her to this day. She was safe from the worst of it and to this day, my parents still dunno she was some rando stranger I meant thru chatrooms on AOL. 😅

I heard people hauling vans and large vehicles with food and aid supplies were being stopped by authorities before reaching NO and having their cargo confiscated, before they got to people needing help

I was in Iraq w/ the LA Air National Guard. It was hard to see them dealing with the dangers we faced there and what was happening to their families back in New Orleans.

Working for a roofing company in OK we were on the spot like 12 hrs later on out skirts savable properties. We stopped and bought every tarp from OK to New Orleans. Slept in truck worked 14 hrs a day. The ones that stayed behind either had bad intentions to begin with some how became animals after. Some of the areas I seen the stuff in the road was because people kicked in every door and took everything they wanted with nowhere to put it so they just left it in the road. Crazy stuff. Lots of pets stuck everywhere. Most of the stranded people had been relocated by the time I got to the really bad flooded areas like the 8 ft water standing areas. So didn’t see many people everyone was working anyone else was stealing.
