@archie.thefrenchbulldog: Tucker Bailey🩵 We just thought you were starting to get a little older and because of that you were getting a little slower…. We never thought it would end like this. It happened so quickly. So unexpected. Out of no where one night, he squealed when we tried to pick him up, his back leg was shaking, and he was so scared. We did an emergency vet visit and got pain meds. We made sure he got lots of rest and we did our best to keep him comfortable. On the way to the next vet appointment, his back end went out completely and he was freaking out and in pain. He was sedated and evaluated for surgery but was not a candidate due to the very little amount of deep nerve sensation and stimulation he had left. He was diagnosed with severe IVDD and a rare case of ascending and descending myelomalacia. We miss him so so much and we did everything we could with the information we had at the time. We’re sharing our story with Tucker to not only remember and honor his life- he was such a special and is a huge part of our family that we are are very deeply missing. But, to also share some light on IVDD. We did not see this coming and you might not either. It’s quick and so, so scary. I’m so sorry💔💔. I’m so scared this will happen to my girl. I do my best to keep her from jumping. She has back issues. Surgery isn’t needed currently, but I worry so much.

My boy at 2 was dx with ivdd in December Lucky for him he’s recovering. I wish more ppl were aware of this.

Thank you for sharing this. I lost my sweet Frenchie mix 8 months ago very unexpectedly at 9 years old to an aggressive form of cancer. I’m so sorry for your loss. Losing them is so hard, you don’t realize how much they impact your daily life and your heart until the are gone. I’m so glad you are giving Archie the chance to get all the love you gave to Tucker!
