this is really the biggest proof that the Republican position isn't based in reality. like when it comes down to the bare practical facts of how Americans behave, people just don't act like they want other people to suffer and die as a function of meritocracy. even the people who say out loud that they do, they mostly don't have the stomach for it when it's situations in their real lives. & the neoliberal/malthusian strategy only pans out if there are a whole bunch of people out there, vaguely, somewhere, who are willing to do all the horrid things that lots of people claim they'd be willing to do when pressed.

My 73yo boss wont retire cause he is scared to buy his own car and phone. I legit would pay someone a whole salary to navigate that process with seniors just to not have to see him ever again 😭
