This color is from the Beta Carotene compound in the grass, which is loaded in easy-to-digest Vitamin A. 🥛 Cows can turn grass into milk through a complex digestive process that involves four stomachs and the mammary glands in their udders. 🥛 Unlike humans, cows are ruminant (four stomachs with compartments called the rumen, reticulum, omasum, and abomasum) The first chamber softens the chewed grass, which the cow then regurgitates and chews again. Microorganisms in the next chamber feed on the plant material, producing energy and proteins. As the grass moves through the remaining chambers and into the small intestine, nutrients and excess water are absorbed into the cow's bloodstream. 🥛Grass fed milk also has a richer protein and healthy fat content, and is lower in omega-6 fatty acids than grain-fed milk. However, grass-fed milk is more expensive and requires more land to produce, which can have environmental repercussions. 🥛 grass-fed cows consume grass as their main source of food and can't be fed grains or grain byproducts. This diet can lead to a healthier animal and different milk composition compared to regular dairy products. 🥛When cows live on a diet from which grain has been eliminated, the omega 3 fatty acid profile increases in their milk.
