I met and knew Jan for awhile, a sweet kind soul. The squeegee was made by my family’s company, Ettore Products. After the attacks we saw his story on tv one morning and were stunned. I don’t remember how, but we got in touch with him and the other gentleman in the elevator that day. My father and I flew out to NYC a few months later to have a private dinner with all of them, we also presented them with gold squeegee pins with a ruby, sapphire and diamond in them representing American flag. I was honored to meet them all and it was a something I’ll never forget, I think of them often.

This is one of the elevator shafts from the north tower, it is part of the 9/11 memorial in Hudson NH! Would be interesting if this is the one he helped save lives in!

I will never forget watching this from Los Angeles. My heart sunk as we watched this unfold. God bless those that made it to safety, and God bless those that did not. This was the greatest tragedy of my lifetime, on US soil.
