I think the word "left" is used in the wrong connotation. just my thoughts. left, as used here implies they were there with him. he was watching a movie and still had a full bag of popcorn. I don't buy it. I think the fight over the pillow happened at home and he was dropped off and they left instantly. that's the story the FULL bag of popcorn tells me
