Saint Arunagirinathar, the revered founder of Thiruppugazh, composed over 16,000 hymns in praise of Lord Murugan, of which around 1,300 survive today — a treasure that continues to guide and inspire devotees across generations. When we reached, the temple curtains were closed, and we were rushing to head towards Vellore Rathnagiri Murugan Temple before its 1 PM closing. Yet, by divine will, the priest asked us to wait. In that short pause, a blessing unfolded — I had the rare honour to sing Thiruppugazh in the very temple of its creator. As if that wasn’t enough, the temple management gifted me a special Arunagirinathar Manimandapam Kumbhabhishekam festival book — a keepsake filled with history and devotion.
