Backwards i find less grass hits the fence but it will still leave some marks. Then i blow down the fence or add some money on the price and water it down after. Or dump them and move on

your going backwards.. string trimmers have a directional spin and yes you can do it with out getting anything on the fence . given it a slight tilt and walk down the fence not up it .. 💯 20 years professional experience

If you cut from right to left, the clippings would go fly towards you that way you won't be hitting the fence with the clippings
