@guerrillazooo: Imagine slithering through murky sludge, the stench of decaying peat in your nose, while crowds cheer. Welcome to the World Bog Snorkeling Championships. Each year in tiny Llanwrtyd Wells, Wales, thrill-seekers from around the globe tackle 120 yards (110 meters) of waterlogged trench - two lengths, no conventional strokes allowed. Flippers do the work, arms flail, and murky mysteries brush past you in the dark. It’s as much spectacle as sport: flamboyant costumes are encouraged, because what’s bog snorkeling without a touch of absurdity? “It’s pitch black, cold, and claustrophobic,” says former champion Neil Utter. “You try not to think about what just brushed past you.” Think you can be the fastest over 120 yards of bog? Sign up - Sunday 24th August for the 2025 edition! #worldbogsnorkellingchampiomships #bogsnorkelling #peatbog #swimming #britishtraditions
