@leftistmommy: I can barely remember any clothes of this quality. We’ve been living in post-capitalist-Amazon-hellscape for at least 10 years with a fast track since Covid. #babyclothes #fastfashion #handmedowns
Also please do a haul 😭❤️I want to unlock memories

Gap, Gymboree and Carters in early 2000s were such good quality. Even “higher” brands quality has declined.

My 2009 baby lived in Gymboree. I shopped the sales and found it second-hand. It washed up so nicely and was able to be passed down to my nieces

I partly blame fast fashion on the declining economy. People can’t afford to invest in quality clothing like my parents were able to; they are looking for what’s the most affordable that will hopefully hold up until the next season. Companies are mass producing cheap clothing to meet the demands of people’s shrinking budgets.

My first son was born in 2016 and I keep most of his clothes but he was in different seasons than my 5m old so I had to supplement some new clothes in the mix and the quality differences are huge in just 8years

I saved some from my 22 year old- my almost 6 month old has been wearing them, besides some slight staining from my middle daughter which I just bleached out in the sun, the quality is incredible

It’s clean because you could soak that Gymboree stuff for days and it would not deteriorate. I know this from experience 😂

It’s the same for women’s clothes. They are made like plastic tablecloths from the dollar store.

I have a tie dye romper that was from Target in 1994. All four of my kids wore it as babies, my grandson wore it 3 years ago...ITS STILL FINE.

Not just clothes, towels too. I have a 25 year old towel from Walmart that looks better than the ones I bought last month.

It was better quality because almost everything was made in america! Now companies are committing corporate greed😭

My son is only 11. I still have his Pottery Barn backpack from kindergarten. It looks brand new. I bought him another one from PB in 4th grade and trashed it end of year cause the zippers all broke and the material was bad.

I think boutiques used to have actual high quality pieces unlike today where boutiques get their merch from the same warehouse as Temu.

My oldest is 11 and my youngest is 3. The decline in quality even between them was huge. Same styles, same stores, but worse quality with a huge price increase anyway.

Gymboree quality is actually still pretty good! Try mini Boden and jojo maman bebe too for similar quality

When my nephew was born in 2017 I'd been buying 2nd hand baby clothes that were from the 2000s and that stuff is still holding up amazing 8 years later after my nephew and my own 3 kids have worn it, stuffs been through minimum 5 kids and it's in better shape than stuff I bought new for current baby 😒 also way cuter even the boy stuff which is boring now
