As a staff member at an Independent Baptist church in Texas, this is not my experience with any Baptist church. I hope you find a church you love and feel at home at but yeah yelling, stomping etc not generally Baptist churches.

I have grown up Baptist and have never been to a Baptist church like that. I wonder if the pastor grew up under a different denomination (possibly Pentecostal holiness )

I’m Baptist and that doesn’t sound like a Baptist church 😅 sounds great tho, as long as he’s preaching the scripture, love the enthusiasm he had! ❤️

Sounds like a Pentecostal church more than a baptist church. 1st one I ever attended I think everyone in the church hugged me at least once.

I would encourage you to find out what safety precautions are taken in regards to people that have access to children at any church you are seriously considering. Nowadays I would not leave my children in a nursery, children’s program, or youth group without knowing that background checks are done and that safety and accountability measures are in place.

When on our mission trip in Black Mountain they said if you aren’t uncomfortable then you aren’t doing it in his will! 🤯

all that hooting, hollering and stomping around alters the chemicals in your brain. it releases dopamine. when that happens, you let go of your defenses, and become easier to influence.

I think one thing to keep in mind is that many churches separate services from Bible study, so what you are looking for where everyone opens their Bibles and talks about what that passage means might be happening on Wednesday nights, before service on Sunday, etc.

I think your studying your wanting is life group classes or known as Sunday class before service. It’s a small group that study the Bible together

If it is a mainstream baptist Bible study is probably wed nights and if they have G.A. program for your girls it is so amazing. It might be a independent baptist which leans more to a traditional penaicostacal. You will need a 13by 9 pan and a casserole dish to fit in

It’s amazing that you and your family are going through this journey to know Christ! I went from being atheist to Protestant (Presbyterian) to, ultimately, Catholic. During that transient time of my life it became very apparent to me that each Protestant denomination has major disparities on the fundamentals of faith within itself. Especially when you think about the fact the Protestant faith is sola scriptura (Bible alone) yet it is unable to agree on a translation/interpretation?? Leaving the infallible word up to the interpretation of fallible beings….that in and of itself opens up a can of worms through personal biases, political angles, etc. So how could you ever trust that what your pastor, or even you, yourself, is preaching is correct? You don’t. Because the leaders of each denomination of the Protestant church don’t even know. Why would God give us this infallible book without a way to infallibly interpret it? He wouldn’t! I always thought that Protestants had a great sense of community, but ultimately, their faith just has no teeth—and the entire reason you’re there is for your faith in our Lord. At the end of the day, this is about your worship of God and the salvation of your soul. So look no further than the Catholic Church to aid you in achieving those goals. Christ’s presence is undeniable within the Church, you will feel Him, you will know Him, and you will love Him! May God bless you and your family! ❤️

I think you went to a Missionary Baptist or an Independent Baptist. They can be very wild, but also super sincere worship.

This could have also been a guest preacher, likely one that used to attend or preach at that church for a time. Definitely go back, but it may not look anything like what you saw today. I always did enjoy a good homecoming service though😊

Baptist here 👋🏻 So glad you felt welcomed!! Just speaking from experience, the midweek service is usually the “Bible study” service. Sunday mornings are usually geared more toward salvation simce that’s usually when more visitors are there. If they have Sunday school or small groups, you’ll get more of the Bible study you are searching for. Church should be a little bit of both preaching and teaching. So excited for you and your family! ❤️
