@ivan.miyingo.quin: Mowzey Radio, the Ugandan musician whose real name was Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo, rather than "Moses Radio." Mowzey Radio (January 25, 1985 – February 1, 2018) was a celebrated singer, songwriter, and performer, best known as one half of the Ugandan music duo Radio and Weasel under their group Goodlyfe Crew. Early Life and Education Moses Nakintije Ssekibogo was born on January 25, 1985, in the Jinja District of the Busoga sub-region, Uganda (some sources incorrectly state 1983 or Buikwe District, but Jinja is widely confirmed). Raised in a humble background, his mother was a food seller, and his early life was marked by modesty and ambition. He began his education at Kibuye Public Primary School in Makindye, Kampala, before attending Holy Cross Lake View Secondary School in Jinja for his O-Levels. He later joined Kiira College Butiki in Jinja for his A-Levels, where he honed his discipline and creativity. In 2004, Moses enrolled at Makerere University, Uganda’s premier institution, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Community Sociology (some sources mention Community Psychology, but Sociology is more consistently cited) in 2005 or 2008, depending on the source. During his university years, Moses developed an interest in music, performing under the stage name Mowzey Radio (sometimes spelled Moze Radio). His nickname reflected his smooth, melodic voice, which would later become his trademark. Early Musical Career (2004–2007) Mowzey Radio’s musical journey began while at Makerere University. In 2004, he released his first solo single, "Tujja Kuba Wamu", which showcased his vocal talent and lyrical ability. This song caught the attention of the Ugandan music scene and led to his recruitment by Leone Island Music Empire, a prominent label owned by Jose Chameleone, one of Uganda’s biggest music stars. At Leone Island, Mowzey started as a backup singer alongside Douglas Sseguya (aka Weasel Manizo), Jose Chameleone’s brother. In 2005, Mowzey released "Jennifer", a reggae love song that became his first major hit, filmed by Ugandan music promoter DJ Erycom. The song’s success expanded his fan base and established him as a rising star. In 2006, he followed up with "Sweet Lady", another well-received track that further showcased his soulful voice and romantic lyrical style, resonating with Ugandan audiences. In 2007, Mowzey Radio, Weasel, and Jose Chameleone toured the United States and the Caribbean, exposing Mowzey to international audiences. However, tensions arose during the tour, leading to disagreements between Mowzey, Weasel, and Chameleone. These conflicts prompted Mowzey and Weasel to leave Leone Island and form their own group, Goodlyfe Crew, in 2008. This marked a pivotal moment in Mowzey’s career, as the duo would go on to redefine Ugandan music. Rise to Stardom with Goodlyfe Crew (2008–2018) The formation of Goodlyfe Crew with Weasel Manizo was a turning point for Mowzey Radio. Their first single, "Nakudata" (2008), was a hit, followed by "Ngamba", which solidified their reputation as a dynamic duo. The partnership combined Mowzey’s soulful, melodic voice with Weasel’s energetic delivery, creating a unique Afrobeat, reggae, and dancehall fusion that captivated East Africa. Their music addressed themes of love, relationships, social issues, and personal triumphs, resonating with a broad audience. Key Albums and Songs Goodlyfe Crew released 11 albums between 2007 and 2016, producing over 229 songs, with 68 unreleased at the time of Mowzey’s death. Their discography includes: 2007: Nakudata 2008: Nyambura (considered one of Uganda’s top albums) 2009: Bread and Butter 2010: Ngenda Maaso 2011: Talk and Talk 2012: Tonjagala 2013: Fantastic 2014: Obudde and Amaaso/Ntunga 2015: Neera 2016: Owana Wabandi Notable songs include: "Ability" (feat. Rabadaba) "Bread ..... #256700991510
