Chickens are so interesting. 3 of my laydies didn’t come back to the coop about two weeks ago. my rooster would normally do anything to avoid being anywhere near me, but he walked the woods with me crowing for them while I called their names. This went on for a few days. he started to hang out with me on the porch because it gives him a good advantage point and he still waiting for them to come home. it’s a lot harder on the flock emotionally than I ever realized it would be when I started raising chickens

A mink took out my entire flock of replacement hens last year right before I was gonna move them in with the adults. 24 dead in 1 night. 🤬

I am so sorry! That sounds terrifying! We had a weasel get into our coop and it killed several ducks and 3 chickens… when we opened the door, it was like a scene from a slasher movie, just awful and sad and the worst part was he left parts scattered about. We definitely upped our security game after that.
