@gluteguy: It's ok about the resistance moment arms. Hip extension torque requirements for the hip thrust are pretty complicated biomechanically. With machines, it's also influenced by the horizontal distance from the pivot to the plate peg. Some are closer while others are further out.#fypage #glutegrowth #trainertips #trainerreacts

Matrix is also poor because the pad never sits at a true 180 degree horizontal. It’s always off slightly and the outer leg/glute ends up doing more work. Also, nautilus glute drive is interesting because it lists the max load at 360lb (4 plates/side) but I’ve used 5 1/2 plates per side before.

Maturing in the gym is realizing if something doesn’t feel right… it usually isn’t! 5’2 girlie here and there a few machines I can’t use at all or even find a hack to and that’s ok. I’d rather not get injured forcing it. There’s always an alternate way to target a muscle.

Your are correct about the matrix machine for short people. However I have made the modification to actually release the lever all the way down and start out in the down position instead of unlocking the bar with the handle. It works better for me being short girlie.

wow I always wondered why this was super hard for m compared to barbell. I use a 25kg plate under my feet aswell lol but could probably use 2 🤣

I’m 5ft and tried the matrix machine at my gym and found it very hard to use being so short 😂 deffo will just stick to the barbell!
