American business owners should be paying there staff a decent wages and some business owners are taking a portion of the tips. In New Zealand we pay starting at about $24.50 a hours do better American business owners

I don't tip for not being served. not in fast food restaurants where you go to the counter and order. I even got asked to tip at a golf course for the game and a cart rental. what are you tipping for? them passing you the cart keys?

Tipping is for over and above there duty. It started over 100 years ago but tipping was only Givin from the rich and to a waitress that had to work hard to serve them. That is what tipping is. Today it's become a thing by entitled Karen's that have no idea what the true history is. I refuse to tip period. I'm not rich.

the problem is not the tip is the fact that is expected, business owner have to be force to pay fairly wages, is obseen that they pay 2 dollar an hour

Waiters and waitresses sb tipped but not more then 20% for excellent top service. The Barrista, and fast food I pick up absolutely no tip. Dog groomers or hair stylist definitely tip.

Tips are based on the service and have not found any servers worth tipping. I find they are rude and they don't care and they mouth off. One time I ordered fish and chips and the condiments should have been automatically brought out. I had to ask for salt and then I had to ask for ketchup. my husband wanted another beer and the server never came around what is even worse there were no other patrons in the restaurant. So the server got zero tip for her lack of service.

It’s because has always been optional, people tip for good customer service. Places are now demanding a tip or automatically adding it to a bill without informing people. That’s why ppl are getting annoyed with it.

This is ridiculous. All of these service workers get aid minimum wage and they rely on tips. If you did not get good service then don't tip but it's the decent thing to do. many of these people cannot afford to live off the wages they get and many students use this to pay for their education. it's really not that much but makes a huge difference to those in the service industry
