有些蜘蛛在織完網之後，確實會把網收起來或吃掉。主要原因有幾個： 1. 回收蛋白質：蜘蛛絲是用牠體內的蛋白質分泌的，成本很高。如果網破損、老化或不需要用時，牠會把絲吃掉，回收再利用。 2. 避免被發現：有些蜘蛛怕天敵或獵物注意到網，所以會在白天把網收起來，晚上再重新織。 3. 網的壽命有限：蜘蛛絲遇到灰塵、濕氣後效果會下降，抓不到獵物，所以很多種類每天晚上都會重織一張新的。
