I worked retail many years ago and a young girl about her age was switching tags on several $90 pair of pants for something that’s worth $10. I was sort of a veteran of these tactics and knew what to look out for so I told her I’ll go get the correct tag for this item and brb. When I returned she accused me of being racists, started shouting loud and said I probably wanted to call her the N word which was so random because I was being super professional. Just then security calls my register saying other store securty depts had called to look out for that very customer doing the same thing and I never let the costumer know I was on the phone with security. I told her to wait for a manger to speak with her about our incorrect tags policy per protocol and she of course threatened to pew pew me and said she will see me after work. Security later called me up and said people will alway try to use race or gender or falsely accuse you of being racists to make you feel you have give into their scheme. For a moment I was so taken back on how someone would use their race as bait to get their way and accuse someone out loud of being racists just so they can basically steal. People lose their jobs over these situations and I’m just glad I kept my cool.
