I used to think healing meant eventually becoming grateful for everything that happened to me. Grateful for the heartbreak. Grateful for the betrayal. Grateful for the endings. Grateful for every painful lesson because it supposedly “made me who I am.” But I don’t think that anymore. Some things were painful, unfair, and completely unnecessary. I don’t have to turn every wound into something beautiful in order to prove that I’ve healed from it. I can wish something never happened and still appreciate the person I became afterward. That’s the part of this passage that really stays with me: more than one truth can exist at the same time. I can grieve what happened and love where I am now. I can be disappointed by the past and excited about my future. I can carry fear and still move toward the life I want. I can appreciate the lessons without being grateful for the way I had to learn them. And maybe gratitude isn’t about forcing yourself to find the good in everything. Maybe it’s about noticing the little glimmers of good that still exist alongside everything else. The morning you wake up and realize it hurts a little less. The unexpected person who says exactly what you needed to hear. The walk that clears your head. The moment you laugh and realize you’re actually happy again. The new version of yourself quietly emerging from a life you once thought was falling apart. You don’t have to rewrite the past into something beautiful. You can simply honor where you are, surrender what you can’t change, and stay open to the possibility that the next chapter doesn’t have to resemble the last one. Your past is evidence of what has happened. It is not evidence of everything that is possible. 🤍 #HealingJourney #Gratitude #PersonalGrowth #SelfDiscovery #Transformation
