Well, we started this morning trying something new, and y’all know how that usually goes. 😂 I tried the Alani Witches Brew, which is apparently caramel apple, with caramel macchiato creamer. Turns out macchiato involves COFFEE. Who knew? Probably everybody but me. 😂 I took one sip and promptly went right back to my OG Lime Slush and sweet cream where I belong. I have on my new fancy robe, which we all know isn’t going to keep me warm, but she sure is pretty. I showed Kenny yesterday and told him it was by the Kardashians. His response? “Oh no. Whoa. Not the Kardashians.” 😂 Sir, calm down. Who do we think I am?! But the most important part of this morning is at the end. Today is my sweet mother in law’s 83rd birthday. 🤍 She’s my mother-in-law, but I’ve called her Grandma for so many years because that’s what my children call her. Lewy body dementia has taken her voice, her smile, and so much of the woman we remember. We don’t always know how much she understands anymore, but I choose to believe that somewhere in there, she knows when we’re there. I choose to believe she still feels how very much she is loved. I miss her voice. I miss her smile. I miss so many little things I probably never realized I would miss. But more than anything today, I’m grateful. I learned so much about being a mama from watching her, and then I learned how to be a grandma from watching her, too. What a gift that has been. So today, we celebrate 83 years of Grandma. The woman she was, the woman she still is, and the love she poured into this family that dementia can never take away. Happy 83rd birthday, Grandma.
