@chemclassrules: throwback to season 2 - making a sodium acetate spire. be nice, i talked slow back then. sodium aceteate is a hydated salt, which means it has water molecules integrated into its crystal structure. with a little heat we can get the salt to actually dissolve in it's own water of hydration (i know, right?), and stay there until some external phenomena causes the crytsal to reorganize into a more regular, ordered, lower energy state. this releases a good amount of heat in the process. science rules #chemistry #Science #scienceexperiments #chemlab #crystals #sodiumacetate #sciencerules #chemclassrules
