ORDER A GENERATOR!!! I have been in Florida 14 years we bought our after we got hit with Ian and have used it almost every year since. Also a charcoal grill, a bag of charcoal, order gas cans now cause come hurricane time you won’t be able to find them!

Might sound crazy but a head lamp to wear. Much easier to make a sandwich and go to the bathroom in the dark with a headlamp on. Also fill ziplocks with water and lay flat in the freezer. After frozen, place them in between things to help keep things frozen longer

Girl get you some fans. It gets hot and muggy, not just for you but for your pets too. Know that cell service could be spotty for the first few hours so have some fun, non-electronic entertainment for the tiny humans.

I don’t live in Florida but I follow alot of people do. I see everyone I follow have a first aid kit, candles with lighter, portable batteries fans, aluminum pans for cooking, with food warmer gel, big bag of ice in the freezer a gas can or 2 in the garage filled with gas, battery operated light bulbs , consider ride out plan, battery operated radio with weather scanner, cash for hotels/ gas station/ stores

I would ask your neighbors if they have experienced flooding before. Sand bags, wood panels for windows, tarps etc. I am from the west coast and it's definitely scary but we are all in it together. ❤️

Portable battery operated fans, canned food/non perishables (grocery shopping before a hurricane is a disaster), I have tarps in my hurricane kit in case of windows blowing out, propane grill and extra propane or you can use a camping stove, also add activities for kids that are special and can use in case of no power! 5th generation Floridian, been through many hurricanes

Anything you would need camping pretty much. With Ian we were out of power for 9 days in Cape Coral. Propane tanks, a generator, paper plates and bowls.

Propane for your grill! Because if you’re out of power for days, you’ll have to cook everything in your fridge. I’d also have a cooler ready! You’ll look for bags of ice so your kids can have milk.

a first aid kit, an extra outfit for each child and adult, work gloves for each adult, dog leashes, collapsible bowls for the pets. In a separate "go", place important papers birth certificates, ss cards, insurance cards, charging cords vaccine records for the kids and animals, a bit of cash incase power goes out and you need something. Fill the cars with gas now! Gas may become scarce as the storm approaches. It might be beneficial to put documents in Ziplock bags incase you have to evacuate in the rain. Also, if you lose power or decide to.evacuate turn off the breakers. If the house floods a fire can start when the power comes back on. Get a battery powered weather radio.

New Orleans girl here, AM/FM battery operated radio is a must, I have that also thst camping generator, something that people don’t think of, cut your grass before a big storm, fill up a bath tub it help to flush the toliet when the water pressure gets low. There is so much, but you did great!

portable power banks for all devices! Keep them charged and ready to go! Propane stocked for your grill to grill meat that will go bad. Frozen water bags to use as ice in coolers for your refrigerated stuff you want to keep cool for a day. Booze. Lifelong Floridian here, but out of mandatory evacuation zones here. Invest in a generator when you can!

Fill up your gas cans now!! Take it from somebody who lived through Ian….gas, groceries, water, etc etc etc is non existent after a major storm with substantial damage. Even trying to get gas before the storm comes is next to impossible. Also, know your zone! The stop signs on your street should be labeled with a colored band. That color is your evacuation zone. I don’t know all of them by heart lol, but I know ours is red which is Zone A, the first zone to get evacuated. You can go to “know your zone” online and type in your address to find out if you’re still not sure!

Native Floridian here, my favorite hurricane supplies would be my generator and my window AC unit. We put the AC unit in one of the bedrooms so we have one cool room to sleep in when there’s no power for days. I won’t face a hurricane without it. Honorable mention to my blackstone. We cook every meal on it.

Copies of important documents in a waterproof pouch. A power inverter for your car. Having a gas generator is always great but they’re expensive. Rechargeable fans. I keep matches, collapsable pet bowls, a utility knife, and Mylar blankets in mine too.
