Spending should reflect a frugal approach to your values of health and safety, relationships, learning, and service to others 2. 2-3 is plenty of anything (e.g. black cardigans) 3. There must be a specific plan for the item 4. Everything gets better (so don’t stock up beyond one spare) 5. Borrow what you can and share what you have!

I’m stealing some of yours…but I put a spin on “shopping my closet”. If I am getting bored, I try to come up with new outfits with what I already have. Mix colors, play with textures. It usually fills my need for something “new”.

Mine are: 1) Absolutely no fast fashion. No more ordering from those cheap companies. The quality is not good and thrift stores have been overloaded with these items. 2) When I die, what will happen to this? I know it’s morbid, but it really makes me think. Will it end up in a landfill? And if it does, will it “return to the earth” in a way that doesn’t harm the environment? 3) I always wait at least 24 hours. If it’s more than $100, I wait a week. 4) Is it something I will use for years to come? If I fill my life with quality instead of quantity, it is a happier life for me. Heck, I have dresses in my closet that I bought 20 years ago and I still wear them. That’s the kind of “things” I want around me.

I love crafting, specifically knitting and diamond art. I don't buy yarn unless I need it for a project, can I use what I already have? diamond art, I have to complete 2 before buying a new one and it has to be a design I love!

Mine is it has to be gone before I replace it. E.g. mascara is empty before I replace it, dish soap, groceries, basically essentials.

I make a list of things I really want and then wait for them to go one sale. I can religiously check on said items that way I know it’d actually a good deal but just inflated and then discounted. It also means it takes months for me to actually make a purchase

1 always check if i can thrift it (or something comparable) first, 2 if its not a hell yes its a no, 3 dont buy a thing thats good enough/close enough - im still gonna want the real deal & probably get it anyways, 4 is there anything that i already own that fills that same function? mostly the answer is yes, 5 wait at least a few days, mostly a week, if i still want it then, i can get it.

I always ask myself the following. Will this item actually improve/ create more value in my life? Is there an eco-sustainable alternative/ can I buy it second hand? For clothing, can I match it with at least 5 outfits? I also refer to my personal style guide to make sure it aligns with my fashion values.

I’ve adopted all of yours after seeing one of your posts and it’s been So Helpful. Have paid of my credit cards and have my spending under control .On the waiting two purchased one, I’ve also recognized that no buying after 9 pm is also important for me.

a few months ago I was so close to buying a Nespresso machine. I didn't because it felt impulsive. I said, if you want it in 90 days, you can save and buy. it's been more than 90 days, I still want it so I start putting it away and I may even put it on my Christmas list instead haha.

Must not buy little bits and pieces because they cost a small about of money. I am still spending my big girl money even if it’s in little bits and pieces. Sales are not my friend, I’ve never actually found anything nice in a sale, buying stuff should feel a bit painful like paying a bill. No duplicates, no buying because it seems normal or expected in a situation.
