Can’t believe they arrested someone for stealing utilities… I’ve worked in the water industry for 15+ years and had people destroy water meters and steal water and not once would the police do anything about it..

he shouldn't have took her to jail. I'm sure she doesn't have money. he should have wrote her a ticket and have a disputed in court. And at the same time hand her a card for social services in that town. this is how people become homeless

He doesn’t have to tow the vehicle they can leave it and give them 48 hours. Or Walmart can tow it when they want. Kills me that they always tow the car when they don’t have to just to make matters worse

Unpopular opinion but. She knew she was stealing, she may have been getting money sent to her but let’s face it they were stealing it for over 3 months. That money more than likely wasn’t gonna be used for lights. Yes there are 2 other adults living at the house but it’s still not right to steal. No matter if yall want to say she’s on a fixed income or not. I know exactly how much my paycheck is gonna be each week and it’s not much but I also know what I can afford and what I can’t. Comes down to it my phone is gone before my lights are cut off. The cop gave her the chance to get her car home and she messed around thinking the cops would just leave. They have a job to do in order to pay their light bills too or guess what. They gonna be without lights if they don’t pay.

How can she be charged with property damage when she owns it if the meter has been removed than the owner has the responsibility of replacing the panel before they put another meter if it was damaged

I'm confused I think all theft should end up in jail. but my question is if do work for someone on their house and they don't pay I'm not allowed to retrieve the product and I have to go to court and nothing will happen to home owner but when it's the power company people go to jail lol how does that work

taking her to jail I understand but the car is on private property you cannot have that car towed from private property unless they tell you to tow it

it doesn't matter who did it really she will still get the same charge if she knew the person or not be ause she is the one who benefited from it without paying a bill 🤔

while this process is happening, I feel like they should also be contacting and opening a social work case. the two systems shouldn't be so independent and these determinations on her income/ etc have nothing to do with police scope, nor are they helping the situation. take her in and call a social worker to actually address the situation.

I get that they should be able to pay the bill with that many adults. But the light bill company robs every single one of us every day. If we all did this they would have to lower the bill
