I used a mix of flour and water in place of school glue and watercolor paint on cotton fabric after it dried. You get the lovely cracks and the flour mix just crumbles off when the paint is dry.

My 3rd graders and I did batiks last year! We used crayons and watered down black paint on paper. I can't wait to try this method!

I did this with tiedye shirts for my art club. It's a pain to wash out the glue from 20 of them but it turns out great.
