@_livingdifferent: I get asked a lot why I started homesteading and if I grew up this way. The truth is, I didn’t grow up this way. My dad hunted but that was about it. We didn’t raise animals, we didn’t grow food. I spent a lot of time at my aunt & uncles farm. In the summer I’d go for a week at a time. We would pick potato bugs, we would stack wood, we drank raw milk, ate homemade food and processed animals. It was best time and a core memory for me. I remember thinking how happy they seemed. They all worked together and saw the reward from their hard work. Because those times stuck with me so deeply , I knew I wanted that. So, as I settle more into who I am and embrace what I actually want, I find myself living the same intentional way. A life of self sufficiency with a hint of rebellion. Rebellion - as in, I’m going against the norm and relying on myself.
