My great Granny was born, raised, raised her own family, & died in the hills of Appalachia. That woman had sooooooo many stories about almost this exact same thing. When Granny said "You dont hear nothing" she meant it & there was always a dang good reason. Also we don't open the door at night unless it's an emergency.
