@fishcakelover8: and its just just an online issue, when i tell people im blood related to my family i always get that look of disbelief. but asians in my experience have been way more kind about it! #25percent #race
through the math I did I am 25 percent native due to both of my parents being 12.5 percent native (their grandparents have grandparents who are full native I think) but due to actual randomization of genetics I could be more or less of it :/

In America, if you don’t phenotypically look black youre not going to be claimed as black

saying you're 25% or mixed with black is one thing. But saying you're a black woman is another. I don't understand what y'all don't understand. There's nothing wrong with saying you're mixed.

because being black is a physical characteristic and being from the Philippines is a cultural identity. like a better comparison would be Nigeria. It would be weird for somone to call themselves East Asian and say they understand and see the world as a Eastern Asian person and them look like Idris Elba 😭. Being a part of a culture is something anyone can be but race is literally how you look.

Virtually all Black Americans are 16-35% European…no matter what they look like. This is proved by DNA (it gets us nowhere) hahaha 😂

Alot of REI (Racial Ethnic Identities) are tied to your phenotype (physical appearance). Im Black/PR/Filipino/Italian but look racially black.

I think it depends. Ppl online are way more gatekeepy than ppl in real life. Most black ppl in real life will accept your blackness especially if you grew up in community with us. This “you need to look black to be black” thing is brand new and mostly online.

It’s all about how people perceive you. Most black Americans are 25%ish white and most people aren’t looking at us like we’re white 🤷🏾♀

Can't deny your experience but Blk people usually go by hypodescent so Obama is considered blk and so is Tyler Lepley. But lately people just exploit blkness for views and are not connected to that community nor care about its wellbeing so people pushed back on calling everyone blk. It also depends on how you look.

As someone who is 50% black it’s way more about phenotype, the way you carry yourself, and the spaces you put yourself in than your actual genetics. If you got black facial features and you constantly in black spaces with a shared black experience, then you will be Accepted ✊🏽

This is very dependent on how you look and who is looking at you. I’m 50/50 Black and Filipino with very dominant Afro features. Non-Black folks in America just see BLACK. Some have even told me, who came out of an Asian woman, that I couldn’t possibly be Asian. While on the flip side some Black folks will say mixed privilege and all kinds of similar stuff to detract from my Black experience.

Us latinos generally don’t claim any race, just ethnicity, Latino/hispanic and the country your parents came from.

I think we just need to know that race is a social construct and it’s different than ethnicity

I feel like it’s a very simple answer. The answer is no if you are 25% of something, but you’re majority of something else you should not be considered of that ethnic group if someone’s 25% black, they should not be considered a black woman.😂😂
