I think people really underestimate how important Robin is to the Batman mythos and the impact that he has. Robin isn’t there just so they appeal to younger audiences, he’s important because he brings out the best in Bruce and helps him grow as a person (when he’s taken seriously and treated with care). Not only that, but it challenges Bruce too. Now it’s not just about “The Mission”, now it’s about trying to be a good father and trying to stop other hurt souls from ending up like himself. That’s why I hope Matt Reeves’ Batman introduces Robin, because it would be so good for that version of the character, both thematically, and for the Robin brand in general.
