Bit of a snub for Davey Boy Smith's family A dog puppet has today been recognised by Davey's hometown in England on their walk of fame But the British Bulldog was rejected His daughter, Georgia Smith, has been campaigning for her late dad to be recognised by Wigan Council He was born and raised 5 miles (8km) away in Golborne But the criteria for the council's Believe Stars mean he doesn't qualify: "In order to be considered for a star the recipient must be living, connected to the borough, have made a significant contribution locally, and not have any criminal convictions that could bring the council into disrepute" The British Secretary of State for Sport and Culture (who is in the Prime Minister's top Cabinet team) is Lisa Nandy - who also represents Davey Boy hometown of Wigan She replied to Georgia's letter earlier this month, saying she’d ask her parliamentary team “to contact the council to better understand their considerations in reaching this decision” Georgia told BBC Manchester earlier this year how she had contacted the council to request that the authority build a tribute to her father, who died in 2002 aged only 39 "We did the WWE Hall of Fame for him in Tampa, so I thought he should be honoured in some capacity in his hometown "My dad took such pride in where he lived and where he grew up “He dressed up from head to toe in red, white and blue and represented the UK" I should add that I love Hacker T Dog - a brilliant kids TV character on the BBC!
