As a Haitian I realized it when they said Haiti is a bad place when literally me and my cousins would go every year and sit up in our grandparents mansion. Free of gang activity, clean water, nice beaches, good food and people. Of course all places have bad areas they just want people to think all of Haiti looks like that. They do that to a lot of countries and continents not just Haiti.

my first experience with distrust for the US government was when i asked my US history teacher why communism was bad enough to kill over and i was sent to the principal for “questioning authority” which was thrown out. i wasn’t being antagonistic, i genuinely did not understand her lessons on the cold war or what communism was. i was not educated but silence.

Many people don’t know we lost the Vietnam war bc what is taught in schools. I didn’t know until a UK person brought it to my attention and I looked more into it. No one “pulls out” of a war when they are winning

Hold on, though. Doesn’t (at least sometimes) the media pass on the lies the government provides them (and they may accept as true)? I think it’s less common for media to create the lie out of nowhere
