@nycgaydad: Curious how other parents navigate faith, belief in God or otherwise with their children especially as they are entering their teen years. #parenting
How would you stop them from believing what they believe? Keep conversation line open and let them see all sides.

Allow them to choose their own path encourage the continued conversations. Let them find their way. You have done an amazing job allowing them to be independent thinkers. Each will figure it out on their own.

First of all you gotta get your kids facts straight. Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady created The Big Bang Theory. I don’t see God in the credits 😅

Such a great question! I baptized my daughter Catholic and took her to church in her formative years. While taking her to church, we also had conversations about other faiths and that we need to respect other faiths and that we can learn from them as well.

I think it’s OK to present them with all of the theories that are out there. I grew Catholic. My husband grew up Greek Orthodox. We didn’t really direct them either way and they’re finding their own way with what feels right to them.

Allowing our kids to choose their own path is such a powerful and beautiful option, whereas I was forced to attend a Catholic Church and lived as a robot for so long!

I allowed my kid to find his own creation theory. He believes in the Big Bang. I will always let him chose his own beliefs. B

Big bang theory is not a belief, it's an observation of the universe expanding.

My 5 all believe something different and all different than me. I think allowing your children to believe in their own way is a gift.

God is a creation of the human being. That's why there are so many versions of "god" and religions. Let them choose their own path, get them books that illustrate the different beliefs.

100% let my 4 choose their own path. I actively engage in discussions with them and I ask a lot of open-ended questions. So far, 1 has chosen to do a non-denominational church, 1 is re-exploring Catholicism, 1 is agnostic & 1 is still questioning.

too young to say that's what they will continue to believe. let them work it out, among themselves, fostering acceptance and positive arguments.

Absolutely let them choose their own path. My oldest is atheist and we support that.

I think when it comes to family and friends having different beliefs it’s important to teach your kids how they can share their own beliefs and at the same time show respect for other beliefs that are different. Also, when they’re ready, teaching them how to respectfully disagree with others
