The Isle La Motte sunflower field is blooming into its fourth year. The field was started by Steve Rowe, who said he just wanted to bring some joy to his neighbors. "Sunflowers look to the east and then follow the sun back to sunset, so they're always facing this road," Rowe said. "I said what a great opportunity to plant a field of sunflowers. They will all be looking at you as you drive by." This summer marks four years of bright sunflowers welcoming folks along Main Road on the island. "I have an opportunity here to express something, being so close to the road. It's been nothing but positive. It's amazing. I'm very, very happy," said Rowe. Part of that positivity is a new message every year. This year is a message to enjoy all that life has to offer. "I try to bring optimism to people. Life is short. This year's message out front is 'Life is short, don't blink.' It just kind of reminds people that there's beauty and everyday life," Rowe explained. "And to capitalize on it and take advantage of the beauty that we live amongst and be happy." New this year is a maze that surrounds visitors in sunflowers that aren't all the typical yellow. "Every year, I try to do something more special with the seeds that I purchase. I try to get some different varieties other than your ordinary yellow flower. This year I've got a pink grapefruit and a plum red," said Rowe. The field is open from dawn until dusk. Rowe said people are welcome to stop by to take in a sunrise or sunset, or just wander the fields. #2025 #localnews #fyp #foryoupage #vermont #flowershower #sunflowers #sunflowerfield #nature #naturalbeauty
