The billionaires are also putting in 11 data centers across in Mn. Monticello has bypassed public opinion and is in the planning phase of going forward. They want to put it in a residential area.

im in se mn but all my family is on the range and on the north shore- I dont think any of them have heard about this. Backroom deals like this need to be made open to the public especially if it involves public utilities

This is a horrible idea, they are going to do what they do with everything, mine it for every penny they can extract and that means they will jack up the rates to the point where no one will be able to afford electricity, they won’t build, repair or maintain… when it begins to fail, to the point it cannot be saved, they will dump it for whatever pennies on the dollar they can get. This move will be ruinous for every customer

Privatizing, public utilities, like water and power always have negative consequences. I can’t think of a single scenario where it improved from going private.

Private equity will buy the PUC long before they ever announce intentions to acquire a utility. Don't expect the PUC to protect you. You're only hope of protection is through the courts.
