Let’s not forget that Sephora, Dior, LV, Benefit, and many others are all owned under the LVMH brand umbrella. This could be a strategic loss leader to make the $45 Dior item look more adorable when the other comparable option is $160. It’s classic pricing strategy which the restaurant industry also does when pricing wine on menus

for luxury designer lipsticks, I always use cdg as a basis. chanel for iconicness, dior for lipstick formula, and guerlain for packaging innovation. these lipsticks do not look like $160 and i'm almost offended because LVMH owns dior, a mainstream designer brand that offers explorative and different formulas and guerlain, a heritage beauty brand that has actually done a great job making beautiful refillable packaging while adapting it to modern cosmetic innovations
